Ronald Leslie Richter

Ronald Leslie Richter 82 passed away June 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.  He was second generation Colorado Springs native, eldest of two boys born to Orville and Ruth Richter, July 28, 1941.  As a child, he fought Polio, and used that experience to forge himself into a strong, hard working man.  He graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1959.

Ronald, or Ronnie as he preferred to be called, married the love of his life, Clara Gieck October 12, 1963, and began their 60-year journey in Faith, family, and love.

He learned to weld from his father and grandfather as a child, and to become creative and handy in any endeavor.  Ronnie was a heavy equipment operator for the local 9 union for years, with experiences from excavating Cheyenne Mountain for NORAD, to the angel monument at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, and everything in between.  He worked for the city of Colorado Springs in Utilities from 1990 until he retired.

He enjoyed spending time with his extended family and friends, with everything from picnics and family dinners, to target shooting and hunting.

He is survived by his wife Clara, sons Brent (Dawn) and Tim (Shelley Rust), and his daughter Susan (Ronn) Haar; grandchildren Megan (Zach) Pinks, Julia (Joe Egli) Hickman, Tyler (Solange) Richter and Peyton (Carter) Sands; great grandchildren Mason and Abigail Pinks and Samson Egli; and brother Gary (Libby) Richter, nephew Andy Richter and niece Crissy Richter.
