Georg B. Gehrung
Georg B. Gehrung
Georg B. Gehrung Jr. was born on April 12, 1946, in Pineville, LA to a military family. After many assignments, his family settled in Colorado Springs, CO. He graduated from Roy J. Wasson High School in 1964. He ultimately earned his BS from Regis University.
He met his wife, Nancy Neuman, during their freshman year of college. They married in 1967 in Pueblo, CO.
Georg retired from US West after 31 years in the telephone business. He was an original "Ma Bell" employee.
He is survived by his three sisters, Laura Sopko, Priscilla Myers, Peggy Dougherty and their families.
Nancy and Georg have two children, Melissa Mallonee (John) and Matthew Gehrung (Karen). They have celebrated eight grandchildren: Dustin (Lindsey), Amy, Marina (Sean), Julien, Levi, Emily (A.J.), Elyise and Estella, and two great-grandchildren: Emerson, Zaylee, and one more due in March of 2025. He was the best playmate children of all ages could ever have. He was a Cub Scout Leader, Sunday School Teacher, leader of several confirmation classes, and directed children's choirs. Georg sang in several large groups and small ensembles. A guitar player ever since his service in Vietnam, he loved music of all sorts, but his all-time-favorite was 50's and 60's Rock-N-Roll, with folk music a close second.
Georg loved time outdoors - playing softball, football, hiking, camping and fishing.
He enjoyed a full life of service to the church, community and his family. He will be remembered by each of us with love and affection.
