Stewardship Letter
I love to tell the story…
The Hymn “I Love to Tell the Story” is an old classic written in the late 1800s about expressing joy and enthusiasm of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ by telling people how Jesus has changed your life.
We all have a story like this – personally – and communally.
As a church community, I love to tell the story of how Jesus is doing wonderful things through the ministries and missions of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church here in Colorado Springs.
In 2024, St. Paul’s put more than $30,000 of missionally-minded funds to various organizations around Colorado Springs and in our United Methodist connection. We also spent a sizeable portion of our budget on staff and facilities that provide prayer groups, music programs, age-appropriate ministries for children and adults, and we partnered with Family Promise through the use of Wesley House to help families experiencing homelessness to get back on their feet and into permanent housing. The church facility blessed our neighborhood and was used by community groups, dance groups, girl scouts, boy scouts, the homeschool music program, a professional teacher’s society, and more.
The pastor’s discretionary fund used $2,517.54 to help our neighbors-in-need with food, clothing, rent, utilities, gas, groceries, and a variety of other things.
All of this was made possible through your generosity!
It’s that time of year again where we send out cards and ask for an estimate of giving from everyone in the church so we have an idea of what we can budget for next year. We can ensure that our expenses fit the needs of the congregation, the needs of our community, and within the context of a reasonable budget.
It is my hope that you can reasonably estimate what you think you might be able to give to the church depending on whatever circumstances you find yourself in. Perhaps this year has been financially favorable, and you think you will be able to give a bit more. Maybe it was a hard year, and you need to cut back on giving to cover some unexpected bills. Either way, it’s ok. Just let us know so we can budget the best we can and keep doing ministry that shares the love of Jesus Christ with everyone in our church, our community, and the world.
Please fill out this "Estimate of Giving" card and return it for the Celebration Service on October 27th, 2024.
Thank you for taking the time to read this note and to fill out this card.
Our church stewardship will be better because of you.
