Iris Maxine Lucke peacefully passed away on March 4, 2024.
She was born September 7, 1936, in Pierre SD to Arthur and Leona Olson.
Iris went to Agar SD High School, and then received her teaching certificate from Dakota Wesleyan University.
Iris taught 2nd grade in the Rapid City SD school district.
Iris married her sweetheart Donald Gary Lucke, November 23, 1956, and they had a wonderful marriage lasting 67 years.
Don’s 20 years in the USAF led to many moves throughout the United States and Canada. They settled in Colorado Springs in 1971.
Iris was involved in many organizations. She acted as the Financial Secretary for several of the Methodist churches for over 25 years.
She was active in several Red Hat Societies, The Depression Glass Club, and City recreation hiking group. Iris and Don enjoyed traveling in their travel trailer or motorhome and were a part of 4 different camping groups. Iris was involved with the UMW group and was an active member of a beloved Women’s Bible study.
Iris is survived by her husband Don, her son Kevin Donald Lucke (Lynn), two grandkids, Brandon Lucke-Wold (Noelle), Michelle Lucke Swatek (Trevor) and 3 great grandchildren, Esme Iris, Soren Peter and Lilyanna Lucke. She is also survived by one brother Lowell Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Vertis Olson.
