June Mission - Mission Medical Center
The Christian Healing Network dba Mission Medical Center was established in 2004 by a group of church leaders who noticed a lack in available health services for people that were uninsured. MMC operates with only 2 full time employees, 3 part time employees, and over 65 active and extremely loyal volunteers, 24 of which are healthcare providers who regularly see patients. Last year, we saw nearly 600 patients and provided $192,000 in free medical visits.
Our primary care clinic is our busiest clinic and is open Monday through Thursday from 9am to 4pm. We offer hour-long appointment times so our providers can spend time getting to know the patient, adequately treat their concerns, and offer spiritual care services as needed and/or requested. Through our primary care program, we offer free laboratory testing to our patients through our partnerships with Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp. We work with Colorado Springs Imaging to obtain x-rays and CTs when we need them for our patients. We have a small in-house lab and can run a few tests right in the office, including hemoglobin a1c, glucose, and UA testing.
MMC also has a fully operational dental clinic with 7 volunteer dentists, 4 dental assistants and a dental hygienist. We have dental x-ray machines, including a panoramic x-ray machine. We perform deep cleanings, fillings, extractions, and extensive oral hygiene education. Lastly, MMC has a Spiritual Care Center staffed with volunteer chaplains. We believe faith and medicine working together improves the lives of patients.

Pastor's Discretionary Fund
Each communion Sunday thereafter we will have a basket for those who feel called to give above and beyond their pledge. This "second-mile" giving will help fund the pastor's discretionary fund, which helps meet community needs as they arise, such as gas, lodging, clothing, etc. Feel free to bring your spare cash and change to help make a change in the lives of those in need.

June 9, We have a Youth Choir visiting us and they will be providing some of their music during the service. We want to say, “Thank You” and welcome them with a potluck right after the service. St. Paul’s will be providing the dessert so plan on bringing a main dish, side, or salad to serve 12(since we are hosting the youth and their adult advisors)

Getting your Ducks in a Row-June 8th: Whether financial and estate planning, keeping medical records, planning for emergency evacuations, or simply making our lives less stressful, we all know we should be better organized. Since we don’t know where to start, we procrastinate. Senior advisor Judy Rough has spent her career helping older clients organize their lives. Though she lives in Denver, she has offered to sponsor a free community seminar at St. Paul’s. The only cost will be for binder materials, available upon registration. The workshop is only a starting point; be prepared to devote some time to following her advice. We’ll enjoy a potluck brunch followed by a half-day workshop. So, sharpen your pencils, bring that egg casserole, and prepare to get your “ducks in a row.” Remember to invite all your friends, since this is a community outreach from St. Paul’s.

Mission Medical Center (MMC) has been serving the uninsured, under-served, and low-income members of the Pikes Peak community since January 2004. Mission Medical treats low-income adults who are without any form of health insurance.
Qualified patients receive integrated health services from licensed professionals in a Christ-centered environment. The dedicated, but small MMC staff is supplemented by a team of volunteers, both medical professionals and administrative helpers.

Threshold Song
In the Midst of New Dimensions
v. 1-3 TFWS #2238
1. In the midst of
new dimensions,
in the face of
changing ways,
who will lead the
pilgrim peoples
wandering in their
separate ways?
Refrain
God of rainbow,
fiery pillar,
leading where the
eagles soar,
we your people,
ours the journey
now and ever,
now and ever,
now and evermore.
Refrain
2. Through the flood
of starving people,
warring factions
and despair,
who will lift
the olive branches?
Who will light the
flame of care?
Refrain
3. As we stand
a world divided
by our own
self-seeking schemes,
grant that we,
your global village,
might envision
wider dreams.

Passing the Peace of Christ
Mystery Box
Scripture Reading
James 2:14-26
Rev. Sylvia Edwards
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but does not have works? Surely that faith cannot save, can it? If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food and one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,” and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.
But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from works, and I by my works will show you faith. You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder. Do you want to be shown, you senseless person, that faith apart from works is worthless? Was not our ancestor Abraham justified by works when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and by works faith was brought to completion. Thus the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God. You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. Likewise, was not Rahab the prostitute also justified by works when she welcomed the messengers and sent them out by another road? For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is also dead.
Prayer for Illumination
Leader: May the words of my mouth,
People: and the meditations of all of our hearts
All: be acceptable in your sight, O Lord our rock and our redeemer.
Psalm 19:14

Prayer, Silent Prayer, The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father
who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day
our daily bread,
and forgive us
our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
Lead us not
into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the Kingdom,
and the Power
and the Glory forever.
Amen

Pass It On
V. 1 UMH #572
It only takes a spark
to get a fire going,
and soon all those around
can warm up
in its glowing.
That’s how it is
with God’s love
once you’ve experienced it;
you spread His love
to everyone;
you want to pass it on.

Walk with me,
I will walk with you
and build the land that
God has planned
where love shines through.
1. When Moses heard
the call of God he said,
“Lord, don’t send me.”
But God told Moses,
“You’re the one
to set my people free.”

Walk with me,
I will walk with you

God has planned

4. And when you share
your faith with me
and work for life made new,
the witness of
your faithfulness
calls me to walk with you.
