July Mission - TESLA
July’s monthly mission is Tesla Educational Opportunity School. For those of you who don’t know, Tesla in an alternative high school that is located across the street from our church.
Ninety-five of the students are at risk of not graduating, many through no fault of their own. Tesla gives the students who want to earn a high school diploma a second chance through opportunities for credit recovery and more individual time with teachers than is possible with traditional schools.
Tesla is not only a school for students who need credit recovery. The school also provides the opportunity for students to earn college credits and to graduate early from high school.
In the past, St. Paul’s has helped provide students with basic needs such as clothes and personal hygiene items. Every Spring we invite the students and faculty to our church for hamburgers and hot dogs. By supporting this mission our church can show Tesla students that the people at St. Paul’s care about them and want to support them as they seek to earn their high school diplomas. By supporting Tesla you can help change the lives of young people who want to be successful and productive adults.

Pastor's Discretionary Fund
Each communion Sunday thereafter we will have a basket for those who feel called to give above and beyond their pledge. This "second-mile" giving will help fund the pastor's discretionary fund, which helps meet community needs as they arise, such as gas, lodging, clothing, etc. Feel free to bring your spare cash and change to help make a change in the lives of those in need.

Opening Hymn
Morning Has Broken
UMH #145
1. Morning has broken
like the first morning;
blackbird has spoken
like the first bird.
Praise for the singing!
Praise for the morning!
Praise for them, springing
fresh from the Word!
2. Sweet the rain’s new fall
sunlit from heaven,
like the first dewfall
on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness
of the wet garden,
sprung in completeness
where his feet pass.
3. Mine is the sunlight!
Mine is the morning
born of the one light
Eden saw play!
Praise with elation,
praise every morning,
God’s recreation
of the new day!
Worship Song
All Things Bright and Beautiful
UMH #147
Refrain
All things bright
and beautiful,
all creatures
great and small,
all things wise
and wonderful:
the Lord God
made them all.
1. Each little flower
that opens,
each little bird that sings,
God made their
glowing colors,
and made their tiny wings.
Refrain
All things bright
and beautiful,
all creatures
great and small,
all things wise
and wonderful:
the Lord God
made them all.
2. The purple-headed
mountains,
the river running by,
the sunset
and the morning
that brightens up the sky.
Refrain
All things bright
and beautiful,
all creatures
great and small,
all things wise
and wonderful:
the Lord God
made them all.
3. The cold wind
in the winter,
the pleasant summer sun,
the ripe fruits
in the garden:
God made them every one.
Refrain
All things bright
and beautiful,
all creatures
great and small,
all things wise
and wonderful:
the Lord God
made them all.
4. God gave us
eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell
how great is
God Almighty,
who has made
all things well.
Refrain
All things bright
and beautiful,
all creatures
great and small,
all things wise
and wonderful:
the Lord God
made them all.

Scripture Reading
John 14:1-6a
Lu Petersen
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
Prayer for Illumination
Leader: May the words of my mouth,
People: and the meditations of all of our hearts
All: be acceptable in your sight, O Lord our rock and our redeemer.

Silent Prayer
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father
who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day
our daily bread,
and forgive us
our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
Lead us not
into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the Kingdom,
and the Power
and the Glory forever.
Amen

Hymn of Promise
UMH #707
1. In the bulb
there is a flower;
in the seed, an apple tree;
in cocoons,
a hidden promise:
butterflies will soon be free!
In the cold
and snow of winter
there’s a spring
that waits to be,
unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.
2. There’s a song
in every silence,
seeking word and melody;
there’s a dawn
in every darkness,
bringing hope to you and me.
From the past
will come the future;
what it holds,
a mystery,
unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.
3. In the end
is our beginning;
in our time, infinity;
in our doubt
there is believing;
in our life, eternity.
In our death,
a resurrection;
at the last, a victory,
unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.
