*Call To Worship
Pastor Donnie Sturgill

Leader: Do we see our blessings glass half empty or half full? Or KNOW God's provision is always sufficient.
People: "Whatever you give is going to be given back to you in good measure-pressed down, shaken together and RUNNING OVER."
Leader: This is the day the Lord has made.
People: Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

*Gathering Song
Stand Up and Bless the Lord
Vs. 1, 3-5 UMH #662
WORDS: James Montgomery (Neh. 9:5)

1. Stand up and
bless the Lord,
ye people of his choice;
stand up and bless
the Lord your God
with heart and soul and voice.

3. O for the living flame
from his own altar brought,
to touch our lips,
our minds inspire,
and wing to
heaven our thought!

4. God is our
strength and song,
and his salvation ours;
then be his love
in Christ proclaimed
with all our ransomed powers.

5. Stand up and
bless the Lord;
the Lord your God adore;
stand up and bless
his glorious name,
henceforth forevermore.

Prayer Song
What a Friend We Have in Jesus
Vs. 1 UMH #526
WORDS: Joseph M. Scriven, ca. 1855

1. What a friend
we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!

O what peace
we often forfeit,
O what needless
pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.

Pastoral, Silent and, The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name; Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power and the Glory forever.
Amen

Prayer Response
What a Friend We Have in Jesus
Vs. 2 UMH #526
WORDS: Joseph M. Scriven, ca. 1855

2. Have we trials
and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never
be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find
a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows
our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.

*Doxology
Praise God from Whom all Blessings Flow

Praise God, from whom
all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures
here below: Alleluia! Alleluia!

Praise God, the source
of all our gifts!
Praise Jesus Christ,
whose power uplifts!

Praise the Spirit,
Holy Spirit!
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Alleluia!

Scripture Reading
Matthew 22:15-22
Lori Thom

Then the Pharisees went and plotted to entrap him in what he said. So they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are sincere, and teach the way of God in accordance with truth, and show deference to no one, for you do not regard people with partiality. Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?” But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why are you putting me to the test, you hypocrites? Show me the coin used for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius. Then he said to them, “Whose head is this and whose title?” They answered, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.” When they heard this, they were amazed, and they left him and went away.

*Hymn
Blest Be the Tie That Binds
UMH #557
WORDS: John Fawcett, 1782

1. Blest be the tie that binds
our hearts in Christian love;
the fellowship
of kindred minds
is like to that above.

2. Before our Father’s throne
we pour our
ardent prayers;
our fears, our hopes,
our aims are one,
our comforts and our cares.

3. We share
each other’s woes,
our mutual burdens bear;
and often for
each other flows
the sympathizing tear.

4. When we asunder part,
it gives us inward pain;
but we shall still
be joined in heart,
and hope to meet again.

*Benediction
