*Call to Worship
CLM Twinkle Gordon
Leader: On this Peace with Justice Sunday, we gather in the divine light of God.
People: We arrive with hearts longing for peace, hands prepared to do the work of justice.
Leader: As we worship today, let us remember how Jesus said "Blessed are the peacemakers" and let us remember the prophet Isaiah's words "to learn to do what is right; seek justice, defend the oppressed, take up the cause of the orphans and plead the case of the widows."
People: We will seek peace and Justice in our world each day.
Leader: This is the day that the Lord has made.
People: We shall rejoice and be glad in it!

Many Gifts, One Spirit
UMH #114
WORDS: Al Carmines, 1973
© 1974 Al Carmines
1. God of change and glory,
God of time and space,
when we fear the future,
give to us your grace.

In the midst of
changing ways
give us still
the grace to praise.

Refrain
Many gifts, one Spirit,
one love known in many ways.
In our difference is blessing,
from diversity
we praise one Giver,

one Lord, one Spirit,
one Word known
in many ways,
hallowing our days.
For the Giver, for the gifts,
praise, praise, praise!

2. God of many colors,
God of many signs,
you have made
us different,
blessing many kinds.

As the old ways
disappear,
let your love
cast out our fear.

Refrain
Many gifts, one Spirit,
one love known in many ways.
In our difference is blessing,
from diversity
we praise one Giver,

one Lord, one Spirit,
one Word known
in many ways,
hallowing our days.
For the Giver, for the gifts,
praise, praise, praise!

3. Freshness of the morning,
newness of each night,
you are still creating
endless love and light.

This we see,
as shadows part,
many gifts from
one great heart.

Refrain
Many gifts, one Spirit,
one love known in many ways.
In our difference is blessing,
from diversity
we praise one Giver,

one Lord, one Spirit,
one Word known
in many ways,
hallowing our days.
For the Giver, for the gifts,
praise, praise, praise!

Let it breathe on me;
let it breathe on me;
let the breath of the Lord
now breathe on me.

Let it breathe on me;
let it breathe on me;
let the breath of the Lord
now breathe on me.
Pastoral, Silent, and The Lord’s Prayer
Pastor Donnie Sturgill
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name; Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those to trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power and the Glory forever.

Scripture Reading
Luke 10:25-37
CLM Twinkle Gordon
An expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he said, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you read there?” He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live.”
But wanting to vindicate himself, he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him, beat him, and took off, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan while traveling came upon him, and when he saw him he was moved with compassion. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, treating them with oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, ‘Take care of him, and when I come back I will repay you whatever more you spend.’ Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

All Who Hunger

1. All who hunger,
gather gladly;
holy manna is our bread.
Come from wilderness
and wandering.
Here, in truth, we will be fed.

You that yearn
for days of fullness,
all around us
is our food.

Taste and see
the grace eternal.
Taste and see
that God is good.

2. All who hunger,
never strangers;
seeker, be a welcome guest.
Come from restlessness
and roaming.
Here, in joy,
we keep the feast.

We that once
were lost and scattered
in communion’s love
have stood.

Taste and see
the grace eternal.
Taste and see
that God is good.

3. All who hunger,
sing together;
Jesus Christ is living bread.
Come from loneliness
and longing.
Here, in peace,
we have been led.

Blest are those
who from this table
live their lives
in gratitude.

Taste and see
the grace eternal.
Taste and see
that God is good.
Communion
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts. The pastor may lift hands and keep them raised.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
It is right, and a good and joyful thing,
always and everywhere to give thanks to you,
Almighty God, creator of heaven and earth.
You formed us in your image and breathed into us the breath of life. When we turned away, and our love failed, your love remained steadfast. You delivered us from captivity, made covenant to be our sovereign God, brought us to a land flowing with milk and honey, and set before us the way of life.
And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Holy are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ.
By the baptism of his suffering, death, and resurrection you gave birth to your Church,
delivered us from slavery to sin and death,
and made with us a new covenant by water and the Spirit.
By your great mercy we have been born anew
to a living hope through the resurrection of your Son from the dead and to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading.
Once we were no people, but now we are your people, declaring your wonderful deeds in Christ,
who called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. When the Lord Jesus ascended, he promised to be with us always, in the power of your Word and Holy Spirit.
On the night in which he gave himself up for us, he took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: "Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me."
When the supper was over he took the cup,
gave thanks to you, gave it to his disciples, and said:
"Drink from this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me."
On the day you raised him from the dead
he was recognized by his disciples in the breaking of the bread, and in the power of your Holy Spirit your Church has continued in the breaking of the bread and the sharing of the cup.
And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving
as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ's offering for us,
as we proclaim the mystery of faith.
Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.
Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here,
and on these gifts of bread and wine.
Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ,
that we may be for the world the body of Christ, redeemed by his blood.
By your Spirit make us one with Christ,
one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world, until Christ comes and we feast at his heavenly banquet.
Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy Church,
all honor and glory is yours, almighty God, now and for ever.
Amen.

We are called

to be light for
the kingdom,
to live in the freedom
of the city of God!

to love tenderly,
we are called
to serve one another,
to walk humbly with God!

Show your mercy
to all those in fear!
We are called

to be hope
for the hopeless
so all hatred
and blindness
will be no more!

We are called
to act with justice,
we are called
to love tenderly,
we are called
to serve one another,
to walk humbly with God!

Sing of that great day
when all will be one!
God will reign,

And we’ll walk
with each other
as sisters and brothers
united in love!

We are called
to act with justice,
we are called
to love tenderly,
we are called
to serve one another,
to walk humbly with God!
