Pastoral, Silent & The Lord’s Prayer
Pastor Donnie Sturgill
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name; Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those to trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power and the Glory forever.

SCRIPTURE READING
June Cornish

Hebrews 13:15-16
Through him, then, let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Psalm 148:3-4, 7-10
Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars!
Praise him, you highest heavens
and you waters above the heavens!
Praise the Lord from the earth,
you sea monsters and all deeps,
fire and hail, snow and frost,
stormy wind fulfilling his command!
Mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars!
Wild animals and all cattle,
creeping things and flying birds!

Psalm 145:21
My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
and all flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.

Luke 19:37-40
Now as he was approaching the path down from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen, saying,
“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven!”
Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, order your disciples to stop.” He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the stones would shout out.”

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
Pastor Donnie Sturgill

We believe in one Almighty God, Creator of the universe, Whose love surpasses all understanding, And whose power is manifest in every breath of life.

We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Born of the Virgin Mary, Whose life on earth embodied love and sacrifice, And whose teachings guide us toward the path of righteousness. He was killed for who he was and what he taught. He endured pain and suffering and knows our pain and suffering He died and was buried. But on the third day, he rose again. He is present with God and sent us his Holy Spirit to be with us and work through us.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the divine presence within, Inspiring, guiding, and transforming us, Uniting us in love and empowering us each day.
We believe in the universal Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
We are the people of God. We are St. Paul’s United Methodist Church A community of Christians in Colorado Springs for more than 130 years. We are Celebrating the love of God,
Following the teachings of Jesus, and Living in the power of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

*SENDING HYMN
Hymn of Promise
UMH #707
WORDS: Natalie Sleeth, 1986
© 1986 Hope Publishing Co.

1. In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree; in cocoons, a hidden promise:
butterflies will soon be free! In the cold and snow of winter there’s a spring that waits to be,
unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

2. There’s a song in every silence, seeking word and melody; there’s a dawn in every darkness, bringing hope to you and me. From the past will come the future; what it holds,
a mystery, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

3. In the end is our beginning; in our time, infinity; in our doubt there is believing; in our life, eternity. In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory, unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.
