Pastor David's Easter Letter

RESURRECTION is more than just death returning to life.  Resurrection is the catalyst of transformation that brings renewal, growth, and hope to replace stagnation, decline, and despair. But where does this hope come from?

The psalmist writes “I lift my eyes up to the hills—from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth”

From nearly anywhere in Colorado Springs, our eyes are drawn upward toward the heavens by the majestic mountains that rise high above the plains.  Each morning as I leave my house, I cannot help but notice Pike’s Peak standing out against the rest of the landscape.  It’s jagged peaks pierce the sky like nature’s own cathedral.  It is a symphony of steep and snowcapped ridges amidst a canvas of clouds and cyan.

This mountain standing high above the city rises as a testament to the mysteries of a God who transcends our understanding, yet is so present, so close, and so intimate.

As we celebrate Easter and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us look to these mountains as a constant reminder of the unwavering hope and strength that God provides. Just as the mountains stand resolute, enduring the test of time, so does God's love and compassion for each one of us.

When we find ourselves in times of stagnation, decline, or despair, let us remember to lift our eyes towards the heavens, seeking God's guidance and drawing inspiration from the beauty and majesty of His creation. But beyond seeking the hope from a distant mountain peak, to seek God in the Holy Spirit that dwells within us, even closer than we can imagine.

Christ did not come to shower power to the powerful, but to be made in human form that he might know us as intimately as we know ourselves. So let us believe in the risen Christ so that  we can experience the transformative power of resurrection, renewal, growth, and hope.

As we gather together during this Easter season, may the powerful image of the mountain inspire us to stand strong in our faith and remind us that, with God's help, we can overcome any challenge we face. Let us embrace the message of resurrection, serve our community, and support each other in our quest for spiritual growth.

He is risen! He is risen indeed!
