If Thou but Suffer God to Guide Thee
UMH #142
WORDS: Georg  Neumark, 1657;  trans. by Catherine Winkworth, 1863 (Ps. 55:22)

1. If thou but suffer God to guide thee, and hope in God through all thy ways, God will give strength,
whate’er betide thee, and bear thee through the evil days. Who trust in God’s unchanging love builds on the rock that naught can move.

2. Only be still, and wait God’s leisure in cheerful hope, with heart content to take whate’er thy Maker’s pleasure and all-discerning love hath sent; we know our inmost wants are known, for we are called
to be God’s own.

3. Sing, pray, and keep God’s ways unswerving; so do thine own part faithfully, and trust God’s word; though undeserving, thou yet shalt find it true for thee. God never yet forsook at need the soul that trusted
God indeed.

Heal Us, Emmanuel, Hear Our Prayers
vs. 1 UMH #266
WORDS: William Cowper, 1779
(Mk. 9:14-27; Mt. 9:20-22; Mk. 5:25-34; Lk. 8:43-48)

1. Heal us, Emmanuel, hear our prayer; we wait to  feel thy touch; Deep-wounded souls to thee repair,
and Savior, we are such.

Pastoral Prayer, Silent Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer
Rev. David Petty

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name; Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those to trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power and the Glory forever.

Prayer Response
Heal Us, Emmanuel, Hear Our Prayers
vs. 2 UMH #266
WORDS: William Cowper, 1779
(Mk. 9:14-27; Mt. 9:20-22; Mk. 5:25-34; Lk. 8:43-48)

2. Our faith is feeble, we confess we faintly trust thy word; but wilt thou pity us the less? Be that far from thee, Lord!

MESSAGE

Scripture Reading
1 Timothy 6:17-19
Lu Petersen

As for those who in the present age are rich, command them not to be haughty or to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches but rather on God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share, thus storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of the life that really is life.

A Wonder-Full Life - Looking Out

SENDING FORTH

*Affirmation of Faith
Lu Petersen

We believe in one God who is at all times everywhere in creation.
Everyone is a child of God: we all belong to God.
We therefore say God loves us as a parent loves their children.
We believe in Jesus of Nazareth,
the man who is our very example
of the life God wants us to live.

From the earliest and most ancient scriptures,
Jesus chose two sentences for us to follow most:
to love God with all our might,
and to love our neighbor as ourselves.
Our lives belong to Christ and we serve him
through or service to others.
We believe in the Holy Spirit
who represents the grace of God
working within us each day.
This is the God in whom we place our faith
and in whom we believe.
*Sending Hymn
Take Time to Be Holy
UMH #395
 WORDS: William D. Longstaff, ca. 1882 (1 Pet. 1:16)

1. Take time to be holy, speak oft with thy Lord; abide in Him always, and feed on His word. Make friends of God’s children, help those who are weak, forgetting in nothing His blessing to seek.

2. Take time to be holy, the world rushes on; spend much time in secret with Jesus alone. By looking to Jesus, like Him thou shalt be; thy friends in thy conduct His likeness shall see.

3. Take time to be holy, let Him be thy guide, and run not before Him, whatever betide. In joy or in sorrow, still follow the Lord, and, looking to Jesus, still trust in His word.

4. Take time to be holy, be calm in thy soul, each thought and each motive beneath His control. Thus led by His spirit to fountains of love, thou soon shall be fitted for service above.
