*Gathering Song
Come, Ye Sinner, Poor and Needy

WORDS: Joseph Hart, 1759
UMH #340

1. Come, ye sinners, poor and needy, weak and wounded, sick and sore; Jesus ready
stands to save you, full of pity, love, and power.

I will arise and go to Jesus; He will embrace me with His arms; in the arms of my dear Savior, O there are ten thousand charms.

2. Come, ye thirsty, come, and welcome, God’s free bounty glorify; true belief and true repentance, every grace that brings You nigh.

I will arise and go to Jesus; He will embrace me with His arms; in the arms of my dear Savior, O there are ten thousand charms.

3. Come ye weary, heavy laden, lost and ruined by the fall; if you tarry till you’re better, you will never come at all.

I will arise and go to Jesus; He will embrace me with His arms; in the arms of my dear Savior, O there are ten thousand charms.

4. Let not conscience make you linger, nor of fitness fondly dream; all the fitness He requireth is to feel your need of Him.

I will arise and go to Jesus; He will embrace me with His arms; in the arms of my dear Savior, O there are ten thousand charms.

Scripture Reading
Genesis 12:1-4a
CLM Twinkle Gordon

Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” So Abram went, as the Lord had told him

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name; Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those to trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power and the Glory forever.

Scripture Reading
Acts 13:44-47
CLM Twinkle Gordon

The next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy, and blaspheming, they contradicted what was spoken by Paul. Then both Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken first to you. Since you reject it and judge yourselves to be unworthy of eternal life, we are now turning to the gentiles. For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, ‘I have set you to be a light for the gentiles, so that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”

*Affirmation of Faith
We Are a Pilgrim People
Adapted from the Basis of Union of the Uniting Church in Australia from Uniting in Worship 2
CLM Twinkle Gordon

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We proclaim Jesus Christ, the crucified and risen One,
confessing him as Lord to the glory of God the Father.

In the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
we acclaim Jesus as the Lord of the Church,
the Head over all things, the beginning of a new creation.

We acknowledge that we live and work
between the time of Christ’s death and resurrection
and the final consummation of all things which he will bring.

We are a pilgrim people,
always on the way towards a promised goal;
on the way Christ feeds us with word and sacraments,
and we have the gift of the Spirit
in order that we may not lose the way.

We will live and work within the faith and unity
of the one holy catholic and apostolic Church,
bearing witness to that unity which is both Christ’s gift and his will.

We affirm that every member of the Church
is engaged to confess the faith of Christ crucified.

Together with all the people of God,
we will serve the world for which Christ died.
And we await with hope the day of the Lord Jesus.

*Sending Hymn
Love Divine, All Love Excelling
WORDS: Charles Wesley, 1747
UMH #384

1. Love divine, all loves excelling, joy of heaven, to earth come down; fix in us Thy humble dwelling; all Thy faithful mercies crown! Jesus, thou art all compassion, pure, unbounded love Thou art; visit us with
Thy salvation; enter every trembling heart.

2. Breathe, O breathe Thy loving Spirit into every troubled breast! Let us all in Thee inherit; let us find that second rest. Take away our bent to sinning; Alpha and Omega be; end of faith, as its beginning, set our hearts at liberty.

3. Come, Almighty to deliver, let us all Thy life receive; suddenly return and never, nevermore Thy temples leave. Thee we would be always blessing, serve Thee as Thy hosts above, pray and praise Thee without ceasing, glory in Thy perfect love.

4. Finish, then, Thy new creation; pure and spotless let us be. Let us see Thy great salvation perfectly restored in Thee; changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place, till we cast our crowns before Thee, lost in wonder, love, and praise.
