Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
UMH #400
WORDS: Robert Robinson, 1758 (1 Sam. 7:12)
1. Come, thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing thy grace; streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it, mount of thy redeeming love.
2. Here I raise mine Ebenezer; hither by thy help I’m come; and I hope, by thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God; he, to rescue me from danger, interposed his precious blood.
3. O to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be! Let thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love; here’s my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above.

A Charge to Keep I Have
v. 1 UMH #413
WORDS: Charles Wesley, 1762 (Lev. 8:35)
1. A charge to keep I have, a God to glorify, a never-dying soul to save, and fit it for the sky.
Pastoral Prayer, Silent Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer
Pastor Donnie Sturgill
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name; Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those to trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power and the Glory forever.

Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow
UMH #94
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise God, all creatures here below: alleluia! Alleluia! Praise God, the source of all our gifts! Praise Jesus Christ, whose power uplifts! Praise the spirit, Holy Spirit! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Scripture Reading
Luke 12:22-34
CLM Twinkle Gordon
He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to your span of life? If then you are not able to do so small a thing as that, why do you worry about the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, you of little faith! And do not keep seeking what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not keep worrying. For it is the nations of the world that seek all these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
“Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give alms. Make purses for yourselves that do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Prayer for Illumination
Leader: May the words of my mouth,
People: and the meditations of all of our hearts
All: be acceptable in your sight, O Lord our rock and our redeemer.
Psalm 19:14

The King of Love My Shepherd Is
v. 1, 2, 3, 6 UMH #138
WORDS: Henry W. Baker (Ps. 23)
1. The King of love my shepherd is, whose goodness faileth never. I nothing lack if I am his, and he is mine forever.
2. Where streams of living water flow, my ransomed soul he leadeth; and where the verdant pastures grow, with food celestial feedeth.
3. Perverse and foolish, oft I strayed, but yet in love he sought me; and on his shoulder gently laid, and home, rejoicing, brought me.
6. And so through all the length of days, thy goodness faileth never; Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise within thy house forever.

Fall Fellowship Dinner Group
Now is the time to join St. Paul’s Fall (September through November) Fellowship Dinner Groups. Sign-up sheets are available on the table in the chapel during the month of August, or you may call Evelyn (719 282-3816) or Donnie at the church office (719 634-7046) and we will be happy to get you on the list. We would love to welcome new faces to our groups, and meeting in small groups of eight and going out to dinner is an excellent way to get to know each other better. The deadline to join is August 28th, and hopefully schedules and a list of participants including addresses and phone numbers can be ready for distribution by the first Sunday in September.
For those who have never participated before and would like more information, please refer to the Fellowship Dinner Groups article in the July-August Cross Currents or pick up a brochure located near the sign-up sheets. We look forward to having you join us.
