Liturgy

Springs Rescue Mission is our January Monthly Mission. Springs Rescue Mission uses a holistic approach to overcoming homeless.
Understanding homelessness begins with understanding the complex causes and challenges that men and women face and dispelling the myths that we encounter.
Their holistic approach focuses on three pillars of life: housing, health and work. They believe that this approach gives guests the skills, knowledge and abilities they need to be active members of their communities.
They want more for their guests lives than just survival. We want them to truly thrive. In this effort, they hope to remind their guests of their inherent human dignity- that they are created in the image of God who loves them.
They offer clothing, breakfast and dinner, hygiene, housing, linens, household items and job training.

Fisher of Men

I will make you fishers of men,
Fishers of men, fishers of men,
I will make you fishers of men
If you follow Me;
If you follow Me,
If you follow Me,
I will make you fishers of men
If you follow Me.

Hear Christ calling, Come unto Me,
Come unto Me, Come unto Me;
Hear Christ calling, Come unto Me,
I will give you rest;
I will give you rest,
I will give you rest;
Hear Christ calling, Come unto Me,
I will give you rest.

1. Come! Live in the light!
Shine with the joy and
the love of the Lord!
We are called

to be light for
the kingdom,
to live in the freedom
of the city of God!

Refrain
We are called
to act with justice,
we are called
to love tenderly,
we are called
to serve one another,
to walk humbly with God!

2. Come! Open your heart!
Show your mercy
to all those in fear!
We are called

to be hope
for the hopeless
so all hatred
and blindness
will be no more!

Refrain
We are called
to act with justice,
we are called
to love tenderly,
we are called
to serve one another,
to walk humbly with God!

3. Sing! Sing a new song!
Sing of that great day
when all will be one!
God will reign,

And we’ll walk
with each other
as sisters and brothers
united in love!

Refrain
We are called
to act with justice,
we are called
to love tenderly,
we are called
to serve one another,
to walk humbly with God!

Scripture Reading
Matthew 4:12-23
Jackie Fletcher

Now when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee. He left Nazareth and made his home in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, so that what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
“Land of Zebulun, land of Naphtali,
on the road by the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the gentiles—
the people who sat in darkness
have seen a great light,
and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death
light has dawned.”
From that time Jesus began to proclaim, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea—for they were fishers. And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of people.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him. As he went from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them. Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Jesus went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people.

Prayer Song
You Are My Hiding Place
TFWS #2055

You are my hiding place.
You always fill my heart
with songs of deliverance,

whenever I am afraid,
I will trust in you,
I will trust in you.

Let the weak say,
“I am strong
in the strength
of the Lord.”

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father
who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name;

Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth
as it is in heaven.

Give us this day
our daily bread,
and forgive us
our trespasses,

as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
Lead us not
into temptation
but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the Kingdom,
and the Power
and the Glory forever.
Amen

Here I Am, Lord
UMH #593
WORDS: Dan Schutte, 1981 (Is. 6:8)
© 1981, 1983, 1989 Daniel L. Schutte and NALR
1. I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in
dark and sin
my hand will save.

I who made the
stars of night,
I will make their
darkness bright.
Who will bear my
light to them?
Whom shall I send?

Refrain
Here I am, Lord.
Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You
calling in the night.

I will go, Lord,
if You lead me.
I will hold
Your people in my heart.

2. I, the Lord of
snow and rain,
I have borne
my people’s pain.
I have wept for
love of them.
They turn away.

I will break
their hearts of stone,
give them hearts
for love alone.
I will speak my
word to them.
Whom shall I send?

Refrain
Here I am, Lord.
Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you
calling in the night.

I will go, Lord,
if you lead me.
I will hold
your people in my heart.

3. I, the Lord
of wind and flame,
I will tend the
poor and lame,
I will set a feast for them.
My hand will save.

Finest bread
I will provide
till their hearts
are satisfied.
I will give my life to them.
Whom shall I send?

Refrain
Here I am, Lord.
Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you
calling in the night.

I will go, Lord,
if you lead me.
I will hold
your people in my heart.
