October Mission - The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army has been meeting human needs without discrimination since 1865.

At the Colorado Springs Corps Community Center: Spiritual Support: We offer a welcoming and supportive environment where individuals in our community can connect with their faith and find peace. Our dedicated team of local chaplains and volunteers provides compassionate spiritual care, offering guidance, prayer, and support. Through individual counseling, group sessions, and community events, we help our neighbors explore their faith and develop a deeper connection with God.

Grocery Cards
It’s always a great time to purchase grocery cards from the church. They can be used at all Safeway and KingSoopers stores, in addition to using them for your own grocery shopping. They are as simple to use as a credit or debit card. You can purchase grocery cards for $25, $50, or $100. The cards never expire, and you can use them multiple times until the entire balance on the card has been spent. Best of all, the church makes 5% of the face value of each card sold.

Start saving your change! We will have the children and youth trick-or-treating through the pews on Sunday, October 25, 2026, to collect change for UNICEF.
UNICEF is Always There for Children in Crisis
UNICEF is on the ground across the globe, delivering help for the children who need it most. Other organizations help children, but UNICEF does more by fighting for children’s rights and delivering the essentials every child needs for an equitable chance in life. UNICEF has helped save and meaningfully improve more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization. UNICEF won’t stop until every child is healthy, educated, protected and respected.

TESLA
A number of students attending the TESLA school across the
street from the church have some needs that you can help supply.
They need food cards, deodorant (boys and girls scents), hairbrushes, toothpaste/toothbrushes, hoodies/sweaters (all adult sizes),
and boys’ and girls’ t-shirts and long sleeve t-shirts (all adult sizes).
They have also asked for help with a food drive. You can donate grocery cards or non-perishables. Any assistance you can provide will let the young people know that people care about them.

God, How Can We Forgive
TFWS #2169
WORDS: Ruth Duck (Matt. 6:12-15; 18:21-35; John 8:2-11) MUSIC: Hebrew Melody, Sacred Harmony; harm. from Hymns Ancient and Modern, alt. © 1996 The Pilgrim Press
1. God, how can we forgive
when bonds of
love are torn?
How can we rise and
start anew,
our trust reborn?
When human loving fails
and every hope is gone,
your love gives strength
beyond our own
to face the dawn.
2. When we have
missed the mark,
and tears of anguish flow,
how can you still
release our guilt,
the debt we owe?
The ocean depth of grace
surpasses all our needs.
A priest who shares
our human pain,
Christ intercedes.
3. Who dares to throw
the stone
to damn another’s sin,
when you, while knowing
all our past,
forgive again?
No more we play the judge,
for by your grace we live.
As you, O God,
forgive our sin,
may we forgive.

A Word of Inspiration
Scripture Reading
CLM Twinkle Gordon
First Reading
Colossians 3:12-14
Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
Second Reading
Mark 11:25
“Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.”
Prayer for Illumination
Leader: May the words of my mouth,
People: and the meditations of all of our hearts
All: be acceptable in your sight, O Lord our rock and our redeemer.

Prayer
Prayer Song
All My Days
You know my words before they’re said.
You know my need and I am fed.
You give me life.
You know my ways,
my strength, my path, for all my days.
my strength, my path, for all my days.
Prayers of the People
Rev. David Petty
The Prayer of Pardon
Leader: Each week we have focused on a different kind of prayer with our prayer beads. Today, we have focused on forgiveness as a reciprocal prayer for well-being that reminds us that we are made to love each other. Forgiveness needs both our willingness to look in the mirror at our own part, and releasing ourselves from the grip of bitterness toward the other. We will take a time of quiet music to move through eight beads, reciting each line in our minds, letting each one sink into our hearts as we use our hands to move from one bead to another. You may have specific things to insert or you might just say, “forgive me” and “help me forgive” when you get to those lines. Do this on your own time, with the words in the quiet of your own heart
Bead 1: Open my heart.
Bead 2: Comfort my heart.
Bead 3: Give me the courage to look in the mirror of my heart.
Bead 4: Forgive me for ______________________.
Bead 5: Help me forgive _____________________.
Bead 6: Help me let go.
Bead 7: Give me freedom from my bitterness.
End Bead: I believe you can heal the hurt.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father
who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day
our daily bread,
and forgive us
our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
Lead us not
into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the Kingdom,
and the Power
and the Glory forever.
Amen

Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior
UMH #351
WORDS: Fanny J. Crosby, 1868
1. Pass me not,
O gentle Savior,
hear my humble cry;
while on others
thou art calling,
do not pass me by.
Refrain
Savior, Savior,
hear my humble cry;
while on others
thou art calling,
do not pass me by.
2. Let me at thy
throne of mercy
find a sweet relief,
kneeling there
in deep contrition;
help my unbelief.
Refrain
Savior, Savior,
hear my humble cry;
while on others
thou art calling,
do not pass me by.
3. Trusting only
in thy merit,
would I seek thy face;
heal my wounded,
broken spirit,
save me by thy grace.
Refrain
Savior, Savior,
hear my humble cry;
while on others
thou art calling,
do not pass me by.
4. Thou the spring
of all my comfort,
more than life to me,
whom have I
on earth beside thee?
Whom in heaven but thee?
Refrain
Savior, Savior,
hear my humble cry;
while on others
thou art calling,
do not pass me by.
