Lisa Anne Porter

Lisa Porter passed unexpectedly, but surrounded by her beloved family at the age of 62 on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. She is survived by her father Thomas Porter, her brother Michael Porter, and her two children Joshua and Mariah George.
Lisa was born in Colorado Springs on April 11, 1963, as the first of two children to her loving parents Thomas and Mary Porter. She grew up in Colorado Springs, where she attended Audubon Elementary, East Middle School, and Wasson High School. She was a tenacious and spunky young woman who loved animals, soccer and playing in the mud. She went to Fort Collins for college, where she graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Occupational Therapy.
She settled back in Colorado Springs where she met her former husband Joel George, with whom she raised two children - Joshua Charles (1990) and Mariah Rachelle (1994). Her children were the center of her life, and she poured her whole heart into motherhood. She dedicated herself to being involved in her children’s lives - planning trips, hand sewing Halloween costumes, cheering at baseball games, driving cross country for synchronized swimming meets, and attending countless theater and music performances.
She dedicated her life to helping others, beginning her work as an occupational therapist in grade schools and later at the Childhood Development Center, where she focused on supporting children on the autism spectrum. Her colleagues fondly remember the guidance, wisdom, and encouragement Lisa generously shared with them and her innate ability to connect with the kids. She found peace in her garden, camping in the Rocky Mountains, and felt called to travel the world. She treasured her time with friends, and her friendships were long-lasting, tight-knit and far-reaching.
Lisa’s passing came far too soon. Lisa was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She touched so many lives with her warmth, generosity, and wild spirit, leaving a lasting mark on everyone she encountered. The world is better for having known her, and it will not be the same without her.
